The reason StartCon didn’t go to Melbourne this year is because Philip Dalidakis and his team couldn’t deliver on what they agreed upon in a signed letter. The Minister and his team tried to re-trade on multiple points including marketing support, and his department was so comically incompetent that they couldn’t turn around a basic sponsorship agreement in five months despite repeated prodding, to the point of absurdity.
StartCon 2016 officially launches: Bonfire Of The Unicorns! Sold out six years running, Australia’s largest startup & growth conference is on November 26 and 27 at Randwick Racecourse.
Within one week of announcing the venue and date, StartCon 2016 pre-release tickets sold out completely. Now, the much-awaited conference is officially launching general ticket sales, along with a bold theme for this year’s event: Bonfire of the Unicorns.
On October 30th 2015 we announced a huge change. Sydstart was no more and we were becoming StartCon.
This came as a shock to the Sydney entrepreneur community who had grown to love Sydstart's annual conference in Sydney. When we meet Sydney entrepreneurs we are often asked the question "why StartCon?"
The reason is simple, we wanted to create a network for our entrepreneurs that had the ability to span outside of one city.
