Who am I and why you should listen to me when it comes to making the treacherous leap from employee to entrepreneur?

I grew up in the socio-economically challenged, working-class western suburbs of Melbourne.

I went to notorious public schools and Universities that don’t feature in the world’s top 500.
I was fired from my first real job.

Stay with me…

Despite this, I hustled my way into consulting gigs with prestigious firms such as EY, KPMG and Macquarie Bank, gigs that paid me six figures and had me traveling business class around the world and charging all sorts of lavish expenses to a corporate card.

Then, just like that and just after my 30th birthday, I gave it all up to pursue a life in entrepreneurship and I quickly realised that what got me here, wouldn’t get me there.

Along the way, I’ve learned some very invaluable lessons, lessons that I’ve unpacked in my book, Employee to Entrepreneur: How to Earn Your Freedom and Do Work That Matters (Wiley, 2019).

Since making the leap, and learning some hard lessons with my first web startup Hotdesk, I founded corporate and startup innovation accelerator Collective Campus – now a seven-figure business and one of Australia’s fastest growing new companies, children’s entrepreneurship program Lemonade Stand, and the Future Squared podcast, now 300 episodes strong.

Come along to hear me unpack, over a drink or two of course, humorous stories from the book as well as invaluable lessons learned making the leap from employee to entrepreneur.
