After selling out six years in a row, StartCon, formerly SydStart, is once again hosting Australia’s largest startup and growth conference in Sydney. The conference will be held on the 26th and 27th of November 2016, at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

The 2015 conference had a unique speaker lineup of international tech industry superstars, including 9GAG CEO and co-founder Ray Chan, Megaupload and Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom, the Godfather of Growth Hacking Sean Ellis, and Freelancer.com CEO Matt Barrie. This year, StartCon will feature even more world-class international speakers in entrepreneurship and growth marketing, on top of high quality workshops and a 100-booth expo showcasing the biggest tech names and high-growth startups in Australia.

The conference will go over two days, with international tech superstars sharing their knowledge and experience with the Australian tech and entrepreneurial community.

Day 1 will focus on Startups and Day 2 on Growth Marketing. The event will include a pitch competition, Capture the Flag (network security challenge), and a 2-day hackathon, with thousands of dollars in prizes.

For 2016, StartCon has chosen Royal Randwick Racecourse as the venue for the event. This exceptionally high-quality location has cutting edge facilities and the capacity for over 3000 attendees, making it a suitable venue for a bigger and better conference.

Chief Executive of Freelancer.com, Matt Barrie said In 2015, SydStart, which has now rebranded to StartCon, was a huge event that harnessed the energy and excitement of Australia’s entrepreneur community. Our conference can only grow from here in 2016.” Barrie continued, We want to continually expose Australian startups to even more international speakers and a mix of new and leading-edge ideas, as a stepping stone to becoming global companies.

On once again hosting the conference in Sydney in 2016, Barrie explained“Our roots are in Sydney and we cannot ignore that. We’re going to focus on giving Sydney and Australia an even better conference, and look at doing more cities in 2017.”

StartCon is about more than conferences now, running regular events and expanding online content. Regular fireside chats, workshops, and expert talks run in Sydney every 2-3 weeks at the Freelancer.com offices. These include Internet, growth and marketing leaders like Chris Hexton, CEO and Founder of Vero, and Fred Schebesta, Co-founder and Director of Finder.com.au. These events are supported and sponsored by Freelancer, Warrior Forum, Moo, and Softlayer.
