Web Profits founder Sujan Patel shares everything he knows 

Sujan Patel is in the web marketing business, and he takes his own medicine every day.

He works hard on his personal brand – blogging, writing books, making videos, and public speaking.

“Share everything I know” is his personal mantra.

He’s obsessed with growth, and when he makes a new discovery, finds a new way to grow, he’ll be spreading the word through every medium he can in a matter of days.

“I’m constantly pushing the boundaries to find new way to achieve growth; faster, better and for a lower cost. It’s the adrenaline junkie in me that keeps me pushing the limits.”

He says it makes the 80-hour weeks worth it when he sees someone growing their business using a strategy he shared.

Patel is the founder of Web Profits, an online marketing agency focussed on helping companies with the latest and greatest marketing techniques available.

Of course, there is no shortage of online marketing companies, but Patel says Web Profits derives its success from shifting the focus away from traditional targets.

“Most companies focus on top of the funnel,” he says. That is, increasing traffic.

Web Profits doesn’t just want to direct traffic to your business, it wants to leverage the traffic to increase return on investment.

That means improving the middle and bottom of the funnel, to make the whole buyer journey more enjoyable – and profitable.

“With our expansion to the US, we’re going beyond customer acquisition with customer advocacy and helping our clients leverage their existing customers for growth,” says Patel.

He’s big on metrics – marketing isn’t worth much if you don’t measure the results. Patel once improved the conversion rate at one of his companies by 30% just by mining the customer feedback for marketing and business improvement ideas. Not just the traffic: the conversion rate.

He also thinks outside the box, like when he realised giving away free t-shirts from a budding company (“I don’t care whether you wear them or wash your car with them, just take a few shirts.”) got word of mouth up 18% and the net promoter score up six points!

Web Profits also has a big focus on training, which has bonus benefits for development.

“We train the next generation of marketers through our training program. Once we’ve proved out a marketing strategy internally we teach our audience to do the same.”
